Last update 2016-07-01: IFR Slot required, see http://www.fhkd-speicher.org/ GCR Format not necessary, just dial +49 69 257585120 VFR arrival via harbor and Alster, 2x 360 to wait, "keep speed up", long landing to vacate rwy quickly. IFR-departure RWY23, intersection U, due to low performance compared to airliner: freq-change before 2000ft & vectors away from SID. Apron 4 is direct in front of GAT and in walking distance. Apron 2 is a bit away and requires bus shuttle due to crossing taxiway. If you just pick up a passenger, call directly before takeoff and ask for short term parking (<1h) on Apron 4 - sometimes you are lucky. Airport is expensive but bus station in walkling distance (5min). In comparission to Uetersen (EDHE), you pay more for the airport but save on taxi costs (65€ round trip from Uetersen to Pinneberg Station) and time. Cafe next to GAT nice and good view.

Last update 2016-07-01: Great GA airport close to Hamburg, unfortunately without public transportation. IFR arrival from north east. Bremen RDR offers 3 options: a) around C of EDDH b) crossing C of EDDH in ca. 5000ft c) crossing CTR with TWR in ca. 2000ft. Choosing b) you stay high in C above final of RWY 15 of EDDH and then it's quite a dive from 5000ft to 0f as EDHE is close by. Nice long and wide gras runway in good shape. Parking on gras, ropes are available and fixed in the ground. Hangars are private and full. Taxi to Pinneberg St needs 15min to arrive, then about 20min & 32€ to the train station. From there, S3 (with many stops to change, ca. 40min) or RB (direkt to Hamburg main station, ca. 20min) in direction of Hamburg main station, both 3,20€/Pers. In total around 1h transfer to the city. Due to taxi costs and long transfer time, it can be more favorable to choose EDDH for short stops without refueling. Restaurant new with good kitchen, fair prices, gread view onto runway. Even live TV during soccer EM. IFR clearance in the air with Bremen Radar.

Last update 2016-09-14: Approach: from/to east light turbulence possible due to winds across trees / flat hills. Nice 700m asphalt runway and well-maintained grass runway. Parking on grass. No fuel available. Sometimes a coffee is available. Ground transportation: only taxi (sometimes a fellow pilot can give you a ride).

Last update 2016-07-01: AD employees are very helpful and cheerful. Roskilde APPR and TWR sit in same ctrl twr, same person working both freq while low volume traffic. On first arrival, you can pre-fill the info sheet from the homepage to make process on site faster. Metall rings in concrete on the apron. Bring your own ropes. Hangars are private and priced for jets (600€/night). Taxi from apron to fuel station while listening on twr freq. Taxi to Roskilde St ca. 30€, from there train each 10 to 20 min to Copenhagen for 96DKK=13€/Pers. Unlock your DriveNow account for Copenhagen as it requires 1 day. No DriveNow cars at the airport, but if you go from the city to EKRK and back it's about 75€ (incl. 30min parking). Bistro at airport: Mo-Th 7:30-14:00 LT, Fr 7:30-13:30 LT, Sa/Su closed. Maintenance at aerodrome: DAO, very helpful.
