LOWG Graz is a well-equipped, GA-friendly international airport with efficient and professional service. No PPR is required; simply file a flight plan for VFR or IFR. Preferred runways are 34C/35C for landing and 16C/17C for departure, with ATC accommodating direct approaches and flexible routing. Both VFR and IFR procedures are straightforward, though terrain north of the field requires attention to altitude restrictions (max 3500 ft at Graz Nord). For IFR departures, some SIDs require strong climb performance up to 6100 ft.

Fees are moderate for an airport of this size. Landing fees for typical GA aircraft range from about €20 to €30, with parking around €5 per night; Austro Control navigation charges apply (about €17–€25), all plus 20% VAT. Example: landing fee about €30, parking per night about €5, approach/departure fee about €25. Short stays (a few hours) may total around €55–€60 including all charges. Payment is accepted by BP card or cash; credit card acceptance is not always guaranteed.

Fuel (Jet A-1 and 100LL) is available from Air BP via bowser; payment by BP card or cash only. Avgas prices are notably high compared to other airports in Austria, and a minimum uplift of 50 liters may apply. The fuel truck generally arrives promptly on request.

Facilities include a dedicated GA terminal adjacent to the apron, allowing easy walkable access between aircraft and terminal (typically 400–600 meters). Security screening is required but handled efficiently with minimal waiting. Amenities include briefing rooms with free Wi-Fi, crew lounge, restrooms, and a restaurant/café in the main terminal. Tie-down rings are available on parking stands.

Ground transport options are convenient: the train station is a 5–10 minute walk from the terminal, with regular service to Graz main station in about 15–30 minutes; taxis cost around €25–€26 to the city center. Rental cars are available on site.

Customs/immigration is available without advance notice for intra-Schengen flights; for non-Schengen arrivals/departures, prior notification by email may be required. Staff are described as friendly and helpful throughout all areas of the airport.

LOWG offers efficient operations, good facilities, and easy access to Graz city center, making it suitable for non-commercial general aviation flights seeking both convenience and value at a larger airport.
