The airfield is showing its age, but I can’t fully agree with the AI’s report. The concrete runway, which has been shortened, is entirely adequate and well maintained. Runway marking work was in progress. Nevertheless, we obtained PPR by phone from the friendly tower operator and were able to land FoB on a Sunday. There was no activity at the field. On the apron there are numerous parking spots with tie-down rings (spaced sufficiently apart). An App to Drive Auto was stationed at the field but we did not use it, as we were picked up. No restaurant. This report is from July 2026.

This is how the aviation community should be. Refueling is at a super low price: AVGAS 100LL at 2.35 Euro per liter, and the landing is even free (7/2026). Elsewhere it's currently 3.10 Euro/L. We were even offered hangar space—better than leaving the aircraft outside. Absolutely friendly fellow aviators. The runway is slightly uneven but well maintained. PPR was granted without any issues via email. Happy to stop by again. Thank you.

Stayed overnight in Ganderkeese again last August. This airfield is ideally located as a base for a great flying vacation. The first island, Wangerooge, is just about half an hour away. You can make wonderful day trips to the East Frisian Islands in your own aircraft and, in the evening, enjoy the sunset on the terrace in front of your aircraft at a very well-kept hotel in American motel style, offering good value for money and excellent hospitality. Landing and parking fees as well as 100LL were reasonably priced. Fellow pilots are very friendly and helpful, as are the tower staff. We’ll be happy to stop by again on our way to the islands.

Eggersdorf is the perfect flying idyll near Berlin. A few years ago I was there with a friend to rebuild an aircraft. Die Fliegende Kiste was our base. The host, Olaf, and his wife were very hospitable, and the facilities were entirely adequate for an airfield restaurant with lodging. He even let me borrow his scooter. The airfield also has its own Fliegerdorf, reportedly the first in Germany. Part of the well-kept runway is still asphalt before transitioning to grass. Back in the day, MiGs flew there. Operations without a Flugleiter have been possible for a very long time. An automated announcement system provides the preferred takeoff and landing direction. The landing fee is simply dropped in the mailbox. At the time, the fuel station was selling reasonably priced 100LL. There are also nice hangars with spaces still available. If I lived in Berlin, this would be my home base. The place is best imagined as a Swedish airfield. This is how flying in Germany should be. Hopefully there will soon be more airfields of this kind.

I was back in Schönhagen again last September. The previous commenters have already covered the essentials. The aerodrome is one of the best GA fields in Germany. The only drawback is the public transport access, though the shuttle handles this quite well. Fuel prices were not particularly noteworthy. I find the landing and parking fees entirely reasonable for this type of field.

Great airport with a beautifully scenic approach when arriving from the south. Straightforward. The airport had very little traffic in April this year. However, I was informed that scheduled airline operations are expected to resume soon. Exercise caution on the apron, as planespotters are walking around and taking photos without asking. Security screening through the X-ray machines via the GAT terminal is quick. Airport staff are friendly, and landing and parking fees were reasonable. It’s a 6-minute walk to the train to Lübeck city center, which runs very regularly—I believe every 30 minutes. Happy to come back.

Been to Sylt last year in August again. In the meantime, there has been a cost explosion at Sylt Airport. I paid €132.60 for two nights for less than 1100 kg, including landing fees and AustroControl arrival and departure fees. Recently, "person" fees have also been introduced (€7/person net), with the crew also counted as a person. How clever is that. In 2023, I paid the same price for four nights. There's no better way to alienate pilots. These prices aren't even offset by the ice cream or espresso that is provided free of charge as a service. ;-)

Great aerodrome with FoB. PPR is approved easily and quickly. The aerodrome has two well-maintained grass runways and is located right next to the Bergstraße in a scenic area. Runway 15L/33R is designated for powered aircraft. Very friendly and helpful fellow pilots. Low landing fee. The walk to the beautiful Heppenheimer Altstadt takes approx. 25 min. Happy to come back regularly.

Recommended aerodrome east of München; popular as a fuel stop. The restaurant is also recommended. If you need to get to Bad Füssing, this aerodrome is very handy. From there it’s easily reachable by taxi or Uber. Villa Patrick is an inexpensive overnight stop en route. Breakfast is available at the restaurant across the street.

I used to come to the airfield more often when fuel prices were still relatively reasonable. Unfortunately, they’re high again—like at all fuel stations in Oberbayern, almost as if there were price-fixing. But a few NM to the east you can refuel at a good price in Schärding. Otherwise, a nicely located field with friendly people.

This April I made another short tech stop in Kulmbach to refuel at a good price. AVGAS was still at 2,49 Eur/Liter. The tower operator was very helpful and friendly. I’d gladly stop again for cheap fuel, but prices would need to come down again. Many thanks.

During my check flight, I conducted a short approach with a touch-and-go. The tower controller was friendly, cooperative, and professional. The invoice was sent afterwards without any hassle.

Last September I landed at Michelstadt. The airfield sits above the town on a plateau, similar to the nearby airfield Main-Bullau. The runway is also sloped. The approach to runway 08 is somewhat demanding due to the steep terrain, taking you quite close over the trees. Because of the slope, part of the runway suddenly disappears behind the crest. Be aware of this and don't be startled, and to protect the brakes, plan to touch down relatively early. The PAPI also helps on landing. Takeoffs are generally made downhill, even with a tailwind. The fuel price was €2.50/L for 100LL, which was inexpensive. Everyone at the airfield was very friendly. I'll gladly come by again, thank you.

I landed at Höxter-Holzminden last September en route to the islands to take on affordable 100LL. The airfield is very straightforward, the people are absolutely friendly. That’s how flying should be: uncomplicated.
Watch out for gusts in strong winds due to the forest clearing near RWY 31. The frequency carries an automated recorded advisory with the recommended runway. After that, just taxi to the fuel station, refuel, take a photo, and pay in the café with a nice slice of cake. I’ll gladly come back for a fuel stop and a break—many thanks.

Made a brief fuel stop here earlier this year when 100LL was still 2.29 EUR per liter. The aerodrome sits on a plateau atop the mountain. The runway is relatively narrow and, as the previous report noted, it is also sloped. Otherwise straightforward. Happy to stop by again for fuel and a coffee.

I made a brief stop at Bonn-Hangelar this April to drop off my copilot and refuel. Strict adherence to the traffic pattern is recommended due to noise abatement issues with local residents; the tower will make this very clear. Otherwise, it’s a nice airfield with relatively heavy traffic and plenty of aircraft on the apron. The southbound departure along the Rhine is spectacular.

After a year, I was back in Rijeka, Krk over Pentecost. The airport is unchanged. Handling is quick. The airport staff are helpful and friendly. PPR must be requested 24 hours in advance. According to other pilots, there’s a potential cost trap here, so request PPR in good time; an email to OPS is sufficient. The fees for landing and parking are reasonable for an airport of this type and size. Right after landing you’re asked whether you want to refuel. Fuel prices for AVGAS were relatively good. I’ll gladly return.
