What other pilots say about EDQM

Unfortunately, EDQM is no longer available for IFR approaches at all times, but they continue to make an effort to attract every arrival with attractive landing fees and fuel prices. When coming from Czechia, I now prefer to make a (JET-A1) fuel stop there rather than in Czechia. Tower and staff very helpful—I haven’t explored the area itself yet.

Nice team in the tower and on the ground. Runway in excellent condition. Entry/exit is straightforward. Payment via aerops as well, including Avgas. Ldg MTOW1400 €22.61, Avgas €2.50/L. The field is somewhat remote but in a beautiful setting. Hof is easy to reach by bike (or a short taxi ride).

25-03-10 relaxed airfield, control zone not always active, very reasonable landing fees and fuel prices. Gasthof Grüner Baum was unfortunately closed for 2 weeks. Stay at Untreu-See was very relaxing, and the walk back to the airfield (approx. 4 km) went partly directly along the road, but okay due to little traffic.

EDQM supports both VFR and IFR operations, with RNP approaches available for all runways. The airport is friendly and efficient for technical stops, with straightforward procedures and helpful staff. The runway is long, in excellent condition, and has a slight upslope towards the west. Departures are uncomplicated with quick handover to Munich; there is no ATIS, so weather comes from Munich. The control zone is not always active, and maximum 3000 ft applies for entry/exit points. Approaching from the south may require maintaining FL60 until close to the approach waypoint, resulting in a steep descent.

Landing fees are low for non-commercial GA. Example: landing and IFR handling about €30; another example: landing about €25 plus 24-hour parking about €25. First four hours of parking are free. Payment can be made via Aerops. Avgas is available at competitive prices and self-service is possible; staff assist promptly at the pump.

Facilities include a modern pilot lounge under the tower with drinks and snacks from vending machines; no on-field restaurant, but a beer garden or restaurant is within 200–500 meters on foot, though opening days may vary. Two e-bikes are available for hire, making it easy to reach Hof or nearby attractions such as Untreusee lake; taxi rides to Hof cost about €20. The airport is quiet but well maintained, with clean infrastructure and easy access.

Customs are available as EDQM is an airport of entry/exit; prior telephone notification may be required for customs clearance. Overall, EDQM offers excellent value and service for general aviation pilots seeking efficient operations and good facilities in a scenic area.
