Due to a short notice cancellation at EDDL, I went to EGKA instead, and then got stranded for an extra 24 hours owing to extremely strong winds. Pricey airport, PPR required, but really efficient. Make sure to wear a high visibility jacket for admission, and payment is made through a little side gate and office to the left of the restaurant.

EGKA (Shoreham) is a well-equipped and welcoming GA airport on the south coast, a few kilometers from Brighton. PPR is required and can be arranged by email, with flexibility for group requests. IFR arrivals are possible; RNP approaches are available for both runways 02 and 20, but incur a separate fee. The airport maintains generous opening hours and offers efficient Avgas and Jet A-1 refueling, with payment for fuel and fees handled at the C office near the fueling station or at an office left of the restaurant. Wearing a high-visibility jacket is required for airside access.

Landing fees are on the higher side for the UK. Example: landing about £40, overnight parking about £20, IFR approach about £30. Hangarage is not always available but can sometimes be arranged in adverse weather. Parking is typically outdoors on hard or grass surfaces.

Facilities include a historic Art Deco terminal with a café/restaurant featuring an apron terrace, as well as a pilot shop (Transair). The GAC/Centre is located near the hangars west of the restaurant or airside by the fire station at the terminal's west side. Customs/immigration is available on arrival, typically handled immediately after engine shutdown; GAR form submission may be required for international arrivals.

Ground transport options are good: Shoreham town center and train station are 10–15 minutes on foot; Brighton can be reached by Uber in about 20 minutes or by bus (Coastliner 700) from a stop 10 minutes’ walk away, with frequent service. Taxis to Brighton cost around £30. Car hire services deliver vehicles to the airfield.

Traffic in the circuit can be busy due to flight schools and helicopter activity; overhead joins may be required—consult official procedures in advance. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM. Overall, EGKA offers excellent service, attractive facilities, and efficient handling for GA pilots seeking access to Brighton and the south coast.
