What other pilots say about EPKI
Fabulous GA airfield with accomodation and restaurant directly next to a Masurian lake which has great swimming options. It is recommended to call the owner first to make sure someone is on site.
Landing recommended only on RWY29 and Take-Off only on RWY11 due to the slope and the forest at the end of RWY11. Traffic pattern is south of the airstrip.
There is no fuel available and bringing tie-downs is recommended.
Landing fees typically waived if you eat in the restaurant. Expect some birds in the bird migrating season.
Grass runway with a noticeable slope, preferred takeoff on 29 and landing on 11, with a south circuit; the runway may be uneven or unmown at times. Operations are typically without a flight information officer, requiring air-to-air communication and vigilance. Simple runway lighting exists. No fuel available on site; fuel can sometimes be arranged via the club from a local station, but is more reliably found at nearby airports such as Ketrzyn or Gryzliny.
Accommodation is available directly at the airfield in simple but well-equipped rooms; overnight stays offer scenic views and barbecue options. Example: overnight accommodation about €25. On-site restaurant serves good food, with self-service possible if few guests are present. Dinner and drinks are available for about €20 per person per day. Hangar space is available; Example: hangar about €10 per day. No landing fee is charged in some cases, but an airfield usage fee of about €40 per person may apply.
The location is quiet and scenic, situated between lakes and forests, with a 2.5 km or 15-minute walk to a lakeside swimming area in Kikity village, which also has a small shop and bakery but no restaurants. The owner speaks German and English but is usually present only on weekends; other staff may have limited language skills. Email reservations are handled efficiently.
Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
