Pilot Comments for EHLE
Timo
Absolutely great GA aerodrome. Unfortunately, no IFR traffic is possible on weekends. On site everyone is very friendly, courteous, and helpful. Highly recommended for Amsterdam. The car rental info@autoverhuurlelystad.nl delivers the car directly to the aerodrome and picks it up there again. A surcharge of 35 EUR is perfectly fine. Landing and 5 days' parking for a PA46 were 150 EUR. Very fair.
Michael
Landed in EHLE on 02-03 and departed on 03-03 VFR with a C-172. Paid 42EUR for 1 landing and 1 night parking.
Expect a lot of traffic in the pattern and in the vicinity as this is the training airfield for KLM and a few other flight schools.
Be sure to read the AIP before approaching, as they have standard procedures to join as a VFR pilot (wither MIKE or BRAVO). ANd you need to request a clearance to start engines with Leylestad Delivery also as a VFR pilot.
If you want to do VFR patterns, be aware that they have a special (and tight) training pattern at only 500ft altitude.
I highly recommend the aviation museum which is located at the airport - also a great pastime for families.
Public transportation is available every 30min to take you to the city center. Uber takes about 10-15min to arrive after you order.
Hotel recommendation is the "Van der Valk" hotel. If you're with a family, make sure to pay the 50EUR extra to get a family room - they're super good with slides, etc.

Sunday, 31 Aug 25 in an SR20 via Y flight plan to Lelystad. Handoff from Radar to Tower. Everything very professional and super friendly. Lots of GA traffic on the field. Parked on Apron D right by the tower. No tie-downs available, but it’s more sheltered from the wind near the tower.
Landing fee incl. weekend surcharge approx. €36; parking five days at approx. €20/day.
Departure on Friday, 05 Sep 25 via SID, handoff from Tower to Approach, who immediately vectored us around heavy precipitation. Again, everyone involved very professional and friendly.
Lelystad is in the middle of nowhere and was only a starting point for a sailing trip for us. In that context, would gladly use it again.
ch
Diversion due to excessively wet/soft runway at Hilversum. Light traffic due to poor weather, so as an exception cleared straight-in to 05 instead of entry via Bravo. Follow-me to parking.

Lelystad (EHLE) is a large, modern airport primarily serving general aviation, with extensive infrastructure and friendly, helpful staff. The field operates under a controlled environment with clear ATC instructions; VFR arrivals typically require entry via designated reporting points such as Bravo or Mike, and circuit procedures should be checked in the AIP due to dynamic management and proximity to Amsterdam airspace. IFR operations require 24-hour PPR, are available only Monday to Friday between 08:30–16:30 local time (excluding holidays), and involve step-climbs due to Schiphol arrivals above; the PPR number must be included in flight plan field 18. All flights require a flight plan.
Parking is available near the tower, but tie-downs are not always present. Example: three nights’ parking about €80. Landing fees vary; Example: landing and four hours’ parking about €40. Payment is possible by credit card or Shell card; debit cards are not accepted for fuel. Avgas and Jet A1 are available self-service, but fuel prices are considered high compared to other airports in the region.
Facilities include several restaurants (not always open every day), a well-stocked pilot shop, briefing and flight planning computers, and a hotel within walking distance of the terminal. The Aviodrome aviation museum is located on the field and is easily accessible on foot. Car hire is available via local agencies who deliver vehicles to the airport by arrangement.
Ground transport options include taxis or Uber (30–45 minutes to Amsterdam), with public transport requiring a 10–15 minute walk to the bus stop followed by train connections (total journey time to Amsterdam typically over an hour). Customs and immigration services are available with no advance notice required for intra-Schengen flights; for other cases, check official sources.
Take care with circuit entry and reporting points due to busy training traffic and commercial operations. Crosswinds from the sea can be expected. No tie-downs may be available at some parking locations. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
