Flew in on 23rd April from Thruxton on the way to Friedricschafen. Sent them an email a couple of days before the trip and they confirmed within a couple of hours.
On final approach I was asked to maintain best forward speed and expedite vacating the runway as there were 6 tornados waiting to take off. After landing I realised there was some kind of event going on with a few stalls at the airfield and the tornados doing multiple low passes. Amazing.
I picked up fuel at EUR 2.20. German border force came out to the aircraft and after a phone call to find out what to do, they stamped my passport. No photo / fingerprint as per the new EES.
On departure I was charged a EUR 20.48 landing fee but also, EUR 39.38 each for customs and immigration which was a first for me. Anyone experienced this before? I asked about this and they said that it is something the airfield needs to pay to the border force.
+19% tax on everything above.
It was very easy to get in and out of the airport. I needed some space for a meeting for about an hour and they gave me a dedicated meeting room which was great. About a 30 minute walk to a large retail factory outlet so plenty of food and shopping options.
