What other pilots say about LFST
As per the AIP, I emailed Aviapartner in advance. However, contrary to the AIP, they replied that if no handling is required, they don’t need a PN. According to the notice posted at the GAT, the PN (apparently for billing purposes only) should in practice be sent to mp.esslinger(at)strasbourg.aeroport.fr. After landing I refueled 100LL (Shell). Best to ask TWR right after landing to call the fuel truck to your parking position. The phone number is also in the AIP. It took a good 15 minutes for the truck to arrive, but the price per liter (as of early 2025) was only €2.41, which is cheaper than in the entire southern third of Germany. Great! Apparently no hi-vis requirement on the apron.
To exit the airfield, go on Apron B through the gap in the jet blast barriers and then through the turnstile in the fence (no staff contact). Walking to the train station at the main terminal realistically takes about 13–14 minutes. It’s best to look it up on Google Maps/Apple Maps beforehand, otherwise it’s easy to get lost (there are no signs). You have to go down into the 'concrete block' and then across the 'bridge' to the platforms. On Sundays the train runs only hourly, otherwise more frequently. Check departure times in Maps to time it. The ticket (€6.30 round trip) is bought right on the platform at a machine; allow a few minutes for that. Alternatively, you can just call an Uber directly to the GAT. It’s about €30 to the old town.
For departure, go into the small GAT building next to the aforementioned turnstile. Press the buzzer and place your license and ID under the camera; the door to the apron opens. Again, no direct contact with staff.
You receive the invoice a few weeks later (to the address provided in your email). Fees up to two tonnes for landing and daytime (or one night) parking are currently about €50.
There is also the email address pc-aires@strasbourg.aeroport.fr. Worth noting in case the one above doesn’t work.
LFST is accessible for general aviation with no mandatory handling for most flights; advance notification by email is typically required, mainly for administrative purposes, and can be sent to sxb.executive@aviapartner.aero or mp.esslinger@strasbourg.aeroport.fr. Handling is not enforced if declined in advance, and no one will meet the aircraft unless services are requested. Landing and parking fees for a day typically range around €45–€50, with a 2024 example of €46 and a two-night stay example about €60. Fees are invoiced by post or email and paid by bank transfer or cheque; on-site payment is generally not available.
IFR and VFR arrivals are straightforward, with clear English on the radio and efficient ATC. Both ILS and vectoring are available, and circuit entry is uncomplicated. No PPR is generally required except during periods of airport works or as per NOTAM; procedures may vary, so check AIP/NOTAM. No hi-vis vest requirement on the apron is noted.
GA parking is on Apron B near a small GA terminal building with basic facilities (bathroom). Entry and exit use a remotely controlled door: pilots hold their license up to a camera, security verifies documents, then opens the door. The process is quick but requires having license and passport at hand. Customs/immigration may require visiting the main terminal even if requested in advance; always carry documents when leaving airside.
AVGAS (100LL) and Jet A are available via fuel truck (Shell), typically arriving within 10–15 minutes after request; payment can be made directly at the truck by card or carnet. No self-service refueling exists.
Ground transport options include a train station at the main terminal (1–15 minutes’ walk from GA apron depending on route), with trains to Strasbourg central in about 8–10 minutes; tickets cost €3–€5. An on-demand Flex’hop bus stop (“Entzheim Caravelle”) is 250 m from the GA exit, connecting to tram lines; availability may be limited during busy periods. Taxis to the city center cost €25–€50 depending on provider.
Car hire (Europcar) offers key drop at the GA terminal. The main terminal restaurant is accessible within 10–15 minutes’ walk from GA parking.
LFST offers efficient operations, friendly staff, reliable fuel service, good public transport links to Strasbourg city center, and manageable fees for non-commercial general aviation flights.
