What other pilots say about LESL

2021-04-10 00:00:00 UTC

The procedures are still as described: registration and payment in advance via the club website, and then everything without staff on site. IFR approach and departure were very easy and convenient via Menorca Tower. The parking stands are very well marked and suitable even for heavier aircraft. After landing, the Guardia Civil conducted the most extensive inspection of my pilot career. They checked everything in the pilot and aircraft documentation using a checklist. In the end, however, no issues.

LESL is a general aviation airfield on Menorca operated by the local aeroclub. Registration and advance payment are required online at http://www.aeroclubmenorca.com, after which a code is provided for apron access. Landing and parking fees are paid in advance: the first day costs about €20, each additional day about €10. Example: landing and parking about €20 for the first day, then about €10 per extra day. No fuel is available at LESL; fuel can be obtained at LEMH with prior arrangement via mah.ejecutivo@aena.es, but prices are high and handling is required if you leave the aircraft.

All arrivals and departures are coordinated with Menorca (LEMH) Tower; there is no dedicated frequency or tower at LESL. VFR corridors (notably the West corridor) are used for arrival and departure, and flight plans can be opened or closed with Menorca Tower on 119.650 MHz. IFR arrivals and departures are possible via Menorca Tower, with procedures published in the LEMH AIP; procedures vary, so see AIP/NOTAM.

The runway is long and in good condition. Parking stands are well marked. The airfield is unstaffed; access is via code, and ramp checks by Guardia Civil or local police occur regularly, including document inspections for pilots and aircraft.

A restaurant/café is located directly by the apron and is open most days except Monday; it is popular with locals and can arrange taxis. Taxis to Mahon cost around €15, with a journey time of 7–15 minutes. Example taxi contacts: +34 971 367 111 or +34 971 482 222.

No hangarage or maintenance services are reported. No customs or immigration facilities exist at LESL. The airfield offers a relaxed atmosphere suitable for general aviation stays of several days.
