Great aerodrome for visiting London.
No PPR required, no handling needed. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Fuel and the ops office are efficient.
Landing fee: 60 pounds (SEP; MTOW 1497 kg)
Customs fee: 14 pounds
Parking: 17 pounds per day
From the aerodrome to central London by Uber/taxi is about 50–60 minutes for about 40 pounds. We also tried the taxi + public transport option; not worth it in terms of cost or time.

Biggin Hill offers both IFR and VFR access, with no handling requirement for non-commercial GA. IFR arrivals are vectored by Thames Radar, with ILS and VOR/DME approaches available; the ILS decision altitude is 730 ft. VFR arrivals are possible, but the airfield is surrounded by controlled airspace and has rigidly enforced noise-sensitive zones—avoid Kenley gliding site and follow published noise abatement procedures closely. PPR is required but filing a flight plan suffices for non-residents.
Landing fees for non-commercial GA under 2 t MTOW vary: Example: landing fee about £60; other examples range up to £140–£150 depending on services and duration. Border/customs levy typically about £20–£40. Parking for two to three days ranges from about £20 to £70. No handling fee is required for self-handled GA flights.
Fuel (Avgas and Jet A1) is available by truck, usually with quick service. Payment by credit card is accepted. On-field services include a crew lounge with complimentary drinks, briefing packs, and helpful staff; a new airport hotel is under construction.
Access to central London is straightforward: taxi or Uber to Bromley South station (typically 10–30 minutes, £20–£30), then direct train to Victoria Station in 15–20 minutes. Total journey time to central London is usually under an hour. Bus service to Bromley South also operates from outside the airport.
Customs/immigration are available on request; advance notification may be needed via the official UK general aviation notification form.
Biggin Hill is well-suited for GA visits to London, offering professional ATC, efficient ground handling, and good transport links. Strict adherence to noise abatement procedures is essential.
