easy and friendly airport, great views when you arrive (if weather is good as it was for my visit).
Approach to 19 is quite tight with the hills just before the runway, came in with a bit of offset and it worked fine.
Fuel quite expensive.

As previously mentioned, EGEO is a good starting point for Scotland/the Hebrides, but we really liked the town of Oban itself! The scenery is stunning, and there is good food e.g. by the water/pier near the tourist information. Rental car was hassle-free with FLIT Self Drive. A bus runs from the airfield into town; otherwise a taxi is about 15 GBP.
As usual at airfields in the UK, be sure to call briefly in advance for PPR; don’t forget high-vis jackets. For fuel you should apparently call ahead as well; in our case, Paul Keegan wandered by anyway and then fetched the truck (“we are hardly Heathrow”).
Approach entirely straightforward. Scottish Control and Information both very helpful (current weather via Scottish FIS; they also called the airfield again with the exact ETA before handover).
In the area the weather often seems rather “bad,” so you should definitely consider the option of flying IFR in Class G airspace.

Nothing to add to the previous reports. Avgas was €3.07. No parking fee, landing fee 18 GBP. Recommended hotel and restaurant 5 minutes’ walk away is the Lochnell Arms. There are bicycles you can borrow free of charge at the airfield.
AirfieldBot
EGEO (Oban) requires PPR for all arrivals, which can be arranged by phone, and operates generally from 10:00 to 16:00 local time or sunset if earlier. Out-of-hours arrivals and departures (not at night) are possible with an indemnity waiver, which should be requested a few days in advance; this waiver costs about £9 per week and also covers Coll and Colonsay. The airfield is VFR only due to surrounding high terrain, with no instrument approaches available. The preferred runway is 19, but the approach is short and tight because of a large hill just north of the field; circuit patterns are flown over the sea. High-visibility jackets are mandatory on the apron.
Avgas is available by self-service pump during airport opening hours; payment is via card at a machine located under the tower or on the side of the main building. Jet A-1 is not available. Fuel prices are considered high in this region. Example: landing fee about £20 plus VAT; overnight parking is typically included for one night.
Facilities include a terminal building with free WiFi and a vending machine; there is no restaurant onsite, but several hotels such as Lochnell Arms and Falls of Lora are within walking distance. Bicycles may be borrowed free of charge at the airfield. Regular bus service (about every hour) connects the airport to Oban town, with journey times around 10–20 minutes; taxis are also available.
The airport serves as a convenient base for exploring the Hebrides and nearby islands such as Glenforsa/Mull, which are about 10 minutes away by air. Weather can be challenging due to frequent poor conditions and strong winds in the area, sometimes causing turbulence on approach, especially with southwesterly winds.
