PPR is required for all arrivals, with contact details found in the AIP. Communication for PPR is generally straightforward and friendly, though there are occasional reports of unresponsive phone and email contact. The airfield operates a grass runway, described as normal but with some uneven and sloping sections; a low pass before landing on 26 can be helpful. Approaches to 26 may be visually challenging due to a nearby forest, and turbulence or bumpy conditions are possible, especially with strong winds. The airfield staff are consistently described as helpful and accommodating.
Landing and overnight parking fees are low. Example: landing plus overnight parking about €20. Tie-down points are available at parking areas. Avgas is available; no Mogas is offered. Bicycles can be rented on-site for short trips into Wismar, typically taking 10–20 minutes by bike or about 10 minutes on foot from the nearest bus stop ("Eiserne Hand"). Taxis to Wismar arrive in a few minutes; one example fare is €12.
Basic sanitary facilities are present. Camping on the field is possible, and hangar space may be available by arrangement. No restaurant operates at the airfield, but Wismar offers many dining options nearby.
The airfield is suitable for non-commercial general aviation under 2 t MTOW. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
