Stralsund Airport (EDBV)

EDBV requires PPR, typically arranged by email or phone with a specific arrival time; confirmation is recommended more than a day in advance. The grass runway is 900 meters long but frequently described as uneven, with bumps, ruts, and numerous molehills; parking areas are often reported as even rougher. The runway surface may be hard and dry or soft with tall grass depending on maintenance and weather, and the dark grass can make the strip hard to identify until close in, though large markers are present. Rolling on the runway takes time due to the surface condition. No fuel is available at the airfield.

The airfield is located at the edge of Stralsund, making city access convenient. Taxis to the city cost about €15 one way, and bicycles are available for hire at the field, with a ride to the harbor or city center taking 10–20 minutes. Accommodation is available on site in basic guest rooms or club quarters; prices for beds range from about €20 per night, with breakfast around €10. A simple restaurant or café operates at the field.

The airfield is fenced, and overnight parking for aircraft is within a locked enclosure. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, with helpful staff and club members. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.

The field’s location makes it attractive for visits to Stralsund and excursions to Rügen. However, pilots should be prepared for challenging runway conditions and exercise caution during landing, taxiing, and parking due to uneven surfaces and wildlife activity.
