Expect significant bureaucracy on arrival and departure, including multiple office visits and long waiting times; plan for up to three hours before departure. All paperwork is processed in the tower building. Upon arrival, pilots may receive a permis d'escale valid for two days instead of a visa, with passports retained by airport police during this period. Fees include about €50 for route charges and about €50 for one night of parking plus mandatory bus transport. Fluent French and patience are strongly recommended; experience in developing countries is advantageous.
