Ohrid (LWOH) requires PPR and advance overflight permission from the Macedonian CAA, typically by sending scanned aircraft documents (registration, insurance, airworthiness) to a specified email. ATC is described as professional and flexible, with little traffic outside the tourist season. Visual approaches are common due to high terrain to the north and no instrument approach from that direction; an ILS approach over the lake is available and scenic.

Fees for landing and parking are generally low. Example: landing about €20, two nights parking about €2; another example: landing and three nights parking about €70; another example: four days parking and all fees about €50. Payment is accepted in cash, including Euros, with local currency available from an ATM in the terminal.

Avgas 100LL is available but advance notice of required quantity is advised; payment for fuel is cash only. Jet A1 is also available at a good price. Tie-downs are provided on the apron. Handling is friendly and efficient, though invoice preparation can sometimes take time.

Car hire through Interways is possible, with easy access to Ohrid town by taxi or rental car. The area offers scenic views, historic sites, and affordable accommodation and food.

High mountains surround the lake at 2,000 feet elevation, making approaches challenging but rewarding. The airport is not busy, allowing flexibility for sightseeing flights around the lake before departure.
