Pilot Comments for LSZC
Jan
Nice aerodrome focused on A/C over 2.5T. No AVGAS; JETA1 available during operating hours; all major CC accepted. Postauto stop Fadenbrücke; taxi at the field within minutes. For non-Pilatus OPS, VFR only. Handling mandatory above 2500 kg MTOM. Best to call +41416220611
Chris
For domestic flights, Buochs is on the pricey side but still reasonable. The approach is straightforward and the circuit is rather large. ATC accommodating and friendly. When landing on runway 06, a long landing is expected to minimize runway occupancy. C-Büro also very friendly, with coffee included. MTOM 630kg corresponded to a landing fee of CHF 33.20.

Buochs (LSZC) is situated in a scenic area near the Vierwaldstättersee and serves as the home of Pilatus Aircraft. The airfield operates with PPR via airportbuochs.ch and has limited opening hours; outside tower hours (after 17:00, during lunch breaks, or weekends), a substantial surcharge applies—CHF 180 per movement for non-homebased pilots, due to the need for staff to operate a runway barrier. Standard landing fees are relatively high for Switzerland, with examples ranging from CHF 33 for a light aircraft to about CHF 70, and up to CHF 121 including customs. Example: landing fee about CHF 70.
The runway is 2 km long and suitable for a range of aircraft. An IFR approach exists but is restricted to Pilatus factory pilots. ATC is described as helpful and expects long landings on runway 06 to minimize runway occupancy. The circuit is large, and approach procedures can be demanding due to the mountainous surroundings; see AIP/NOTAM for details.
Facilities include a fenced parking area and a C-office with complimentary coffee; fuel is available via Pilatus but may require crossing the airfield. No on-field restaurant or public transport connection is mentioned, but hotels are accessible within a short drive or a 15-minute walk, and taxi service is available. Customs are possible but require advance coordination; additional fees may apply.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and supportive, assisting with logistics and local arrangements. The location offers impressive views and access to local attractions such as Pilatus Aircraft tours. Fees are notably higher than nearby alternatives like Kägiswil (LSPG).
