Geneva (LSGG) requires PPR and slots for both VFR and IFR arrivals and departures, which are typically arranged via a ground handling agent. Handling is generally mandatory for non-Swiss-registered aircraft, with exceptions only for those holding a Swiss airport identity card, which is not available to most visitors. Slot requests can be made by phone at +41 22 717 71 26, and the slot number must be entered in field 18 of the flight plan. ATC may request maintaining 160 kt until 4 nm and prompt runway vacation.
Handling fees are high, with examples ranging from about CHF 250 to CHF 560 for short stays. Example: total charges about CHF 560 for a 36-hour stay. Additional airport fees (landing, parking, navigation) are charged separately; previous examples show landing and parking fees in the range of CHF 44–100. Parking longer than three hours requires PPR.
The North Apron is the usual GA parking area; all occupants must wear high-visibility vests on the apron or use the shuttle bus (call +41 22 717 71 19). The GA terminal provides customs clearance, and customs, C-room, fuel office, and café are within close walking distance of North Apron parking. Avgas is available at a pump near the café; no Avgas truck operates. Transport to the main terminal for car hire or public transport is by airport shuttle bus; walking is not permitted across runways or aprons.
Facilities include an efficient GA terminal with basic amenities and friendly ATC service. The airport operates long hours and accommodates both VFR and IFR traffic. For customs/immigration: flights departing to France are treated as internal French flights; flights to other countries require landing at an airport of entry.
Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM. Geneva is accessible for non-commercial general aviation but incurs substantial handling costs.
