AirfieldBot
General aviation access at LIRP is subject to strict PPR requirements, with civil use limited due to the airport’s primary military status. Obtaining landing permission can be difficult, and handling is mandatory; Argus Handling and SAT are mentioned as agents able to organize arrivals, though advance price confirmation may not always be possible. Some pilots have received PPR after initial refusals by contacting Genav PSA or submitting handling requests by email or fax. Parking is limited, sometimes restricted to short durations, and availability varies.
Fees are generally described as high or expensive, with examples ranging from about €50 to €100 for handling and parking. Example: total fees about €70 for three days including handling and parking. Handling agents will provide estimates on request. No Avgas is available; Jet A1 is available without issue. Customs procedures are straightforward when arranged through the handling agent.
Taxis to the city center cost about €10–20, with travel times of 5–15 minutes depending on traffic and destination. The airport is large with significant commercial traffic, which can result in delays for VFR arrivals due to holding patterns and sequencing. IFR arrivals and departures are possible but may involve late descent clearances and circuitous routings due to airspace structure.
