What other pilots say about LIDP
Pavullo is a bit sporty on approach to 02, as you only see the runway late and come in with a 30° offset over downsloping terrain. Runway is perfectly maintained and upsloping at the end. Radio relaxed but precise; ENAC showpiece field ;-) Great location in the middle of the valley; the way to Pavullo is manageable at 2 km. Landing fee up to 2 t now €20, parking €25/night. If needed, BP Avgas available. Before refueling, check W&B and takeoff performance. Runway is long enough, but on 02 and 20 there is rising terrain in each case! Pavullo itself is a bit boring; in early October, half of the few restaurants in town were closed. The on-field restaurant is good. The field’s facilities are high standard. You can occasionally watch the rescue helicopters training. Good stop at a higher price level.
Pavullo (LIDP) offers a well-maintained, modern airfield with a 1200-meter asphalt runway and high-standard facilities. Avgas is available, but payment must be made by credit card or cash as special fuel cards are not accepted. The airfield features a good on-field restaurant and rooms are available for overnight stays.
The approach to runway 02 is notable for its late runway visibility and requires a 30-degree offset final due to terrain, with the runway itself rising at the end. Both runways 02 and 20 have upsloping terrain, so careful weight and balance and takeoff performance checks are advised. The circuit is west of the field, routing around a ridge; the preferred runway is 02. Radio communication is relaxed but precise.
Landing fees up to 2 tons MTOW are about €20, with parking at €25 per night. Example: landing fee about €20. Pavullo town is approximately 2 km from the airfield, accessible on foot.
The environment is scenic but the town itself offers limited attractions and some restaurants may be closed outside peak times. Glider activity and occasional rescue helicopter training occur. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
