The airport had quite a bit of renovation work and lots of notam, but as of now (phase 4 activated) it seems all completed and no more restrictions. The runways looked great, the GA parking off E in front of the tower all accessible and empty. As usual very convenient airport into Paris from the UK, drive a bit far but time wise it's really not bad as highway for a good part of the trip, especially if going west of Paris. Today I was going east, but still made it in about 1h.
LFPT (Pontoise) is a convenient GA airport northwest of Paris, accessible VFR and IFR with RNP, ILS, and VOR approaches. Pilot-controlled lighting allows arrivals and departures at any time, though mandatory French R/T may be required when the tower is unmanned. Radar ATC is available, with vectoring common in the Paris area. Circling approaches may be required for runway 12/30; straight-in can often be requested.
Visitor parking is available on the GA apron near taxiway E or by the tower at runway 30 threshold, with capacity for approximately 4–8 aircraft depending on size. Additional parking and hangar space are available via Ameridair handling, which is not mandatory below 3.5t MTOW. Facilities at the GA apron are minimal; a lounge with coffee is available via handling, and a bar/restaurant operates near the tower. The aeroclub offers fuel (Avgas) and support; payment options include Total Card, cash, or Visa (no Mastercard), though some pumps accept only Total Card.
Handling through Ameridair is described as friendly and efficient. Example: handling about €120; parking about €40 per night; landing fee about €20. Parking via the aeroclub or on grass may reduce costs. No customs checks are routinely performed, but advance notice by fax or AFTN message with customs request is advised.
Ground transport options include Uber (typically quick response), taxis (variable availability), and access to nearby train stations such as Cergy-Préfecture or Pontoise for RER service to central Paris (train journey 40–45 minutes). Taxi or Uber to Paris ranges from about €70–100; to local stations about €15–25.
No significant safety or procedural issues are noted beyond language requirements and occasional limited tower staffing. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
LFPT offers practical access to Paris for non-commercial GA with flexible operations, reasonable fees, basic facilities, and workable ground transport options.
