Civil Airfield Propriano (LFKO)

LFKO (Propriano) is a VFR airfield in southern Corsica with no PPR required. Operations use blind transmissions on the air-air frequency, primarily in French; English is generally understood but responses are rare. IFR arrivals are possible with visual approach clearance from Ajaccio, but there are no published procedures. Parachuting activity is frequent, especially in summer, and can temporarily affect circuit operations. The runway is long (1400 m), with some grass and maintenance issues noted at the far end, but the surface remains suitable for typical GA use. Parking is mostly on grass, with limited tie-downs; parking space can be tight during group arrivals.

A small restaurant/bar exists on the field but its opening hours are irregular—often open only on weekends or closed entirely. Toilets may be out of order or restricted to bar patrons. The beach is directly accessible from the airfield—typically a 5–15 minute walk—though reaching it may require crossing a dry riverbed or shallow water depending on conditions; waterproof bags or shoes may be useful. Camping on the field is tolerated, and basic showers have been available in the past.

Noise abatement and safety: expect bird activity near runway ends, occasional turbulence in final approach due to local winds, and parachuting operations requiring vigilance in the circuit. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for current details.
