Civil Airfield Nuits Saint Georges (LFGZ)

LFGZ is a well-maintained grass airfield with a friendly atmosphere and straightforward operations. The runway is relatively level with a slight incline and generally in good condition, though some pilots note occasional unevenness or holprig sections. The airfield is usually unattended, including weekends, so arrivals often require blind calls; the circuit is to the north. No landing or parking fees are charged, but donations to the club are appreciated.

Avgas 100LL is available from the local aeroclub, typically by prior arrangement and payable in cash. Fuel availability depends on club presence; alternative fuel can be found at nearby airfields such as Beaune. The aeroclub may not always respond promptly to email, but on-site members are described as helpful.

Accommodation is available at Chateau de la Berchere, located directly adjacent to the airfield (150–300 meters on foot), offering a unique stay in a historic setting. The Kyriad hotel with restaurant is about 2.5 km away and can be reached in approximately 20 minutes on foot. Bicycles may be delivered to the chateau for guest use. Taxis are difficult to obtain locally, but lifts into town are sometimes offered by club members; walking to Nuits-Saint-Georges town center takes about 20–30 minutes.

The village offers numerous good restaurants and wine tasting opportunities within cycling distance (up to 15 minutes). There is no on-field restaurant, but breakfast is available at the chateau.

Approaches from the west descend steeply; when planning direct approaches, consider offsetting northward to avoid hills and power lines. The official circuit with overhead join is straightforward. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for details.
