LFAQ offers a long, well-maintained runway with LPV instrument approaches on both ends and is suitable for intra- and non-Schengen flights, including customs on reasonable prior notice via email. Customs formalities are efficient, with a minimum 48-hour advance notice recommended; the customs office is about 350 meters from the fuel station and C-office, requiring two walks between them. ATC operates in English or French during published hours; there is no ATC or fuel available on Sundays, and the terminal is closed that day. Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM for current operating times.
Avgas and Jet A-1 are available; refueling with an Air BP card is possible at any time, otherwise only during operating hours. The airfield has limited parking space, mainly on taxiways or in front of hangars. There is no restaurant or food service on site, but coffee machines are available in the terminal, which also offers comfortable lounge facilities with tables, chairs, and couches. A small maintenance workshop specializing in warbird restoration is present.
Landing fees are low. Example: landing fee about €10. Payment is typically made to firemen under the tower, preferably in cash. The airport is generally quiet with friendly staff and serves as a practical stop for fuel and customs. The nearby town of Albert offers historical sites and restaurants accessible by bike.
The runway has an upslope in the middle. The airport occasionally hosts Airbus Beluga operations, and warbirds may be seen in hangars. No public transport or car hire details are reported.
