Civil Airfield Perranporth (EGTP) PPR

Perranporth (EGTP) is a coastal airfield with a clifftop location, offering direct access to the South West Coast Path and nearby Cornish beaches. PPR is required by phone, and operations are typically self-announced on the frequency, as the airfield may be unattended. There are no instrument approaches; visual arrivals are standard, with noise abatement procedures in place and a curved approach required for runway 05. Runways 05/23 and 09 are available; surfaces are generally acceptable but can be undulating or wavy, with some gravelly patches. Departures after official closing time are possible.

Landing fees are calculated at 1p per kg MTOW plus VAT, with examples of about £15 for a single landing and takeoff or £17 for two days' parking. Parking is on grass, with tie-downs available. Fuel is available but described as expensive; no JET A1 is offered. Facilities include Flo's café serving English meals and breakfast, toilets, and basic amenities. Accommodation options include nearby guesthouses and camping at Blue Hills Campingplatz; some local hotels offer pickup/drop-off from the airfield.

Ground transport options include taxis (about £8 to Perranporth), car hire from Hertz in Truro (deliverable to the airfield), and an hourly bus service reachable by a 10-minute walk. Walking into Perranporth takes about an hour via the coastal path or a steep descent into town. Customs/immigration can be arranged for a fee (about €10), requiring at least 24 hours' notice and completion of a GA report.
