Civil Airfield Rochester (EGTO)

EGTO is a friendly grass airfield operating PPR, with overtime possible by prior arrangement. The field closes early but can accommodate arrivals outside published hours with prior notice. Avgas, Jet A-1, and UL91 are available. The grass runway 02/20 is in use; approaches to 02 involve crossing a motorway and may require a higher final, with bushes on short final and a carrier-like feel. The runway and taxiways are not perfectly flat but are generally satisfactory, though some areas can be a bit bumpy.

A Holiday Inn with a small restaurant is directly adjacent to the entrance, and several take-aways including KFC are within walking distance. A small on-field café offers wi-fi and daytime service. Camping is possible by arrangement, with toilets accessible overnight, but the site is locked at night. Southend controlled airspace lies close to the eastern boundary; check procedures in AIP/NOTAM as needed.

GAR allows arrivals from France; confirm requirements for 2024. The tower frequency is 122.255. FISO service is provided. The airfield is considered lower cost for VFR GA in the area.
