Civil Airfield Fairoaks (EGTF)

Fairoaks (EGTF) is a friendly and well-equipped GA airfield with a hard runway, located conveniently for access to London. The airport is surrounded by controlled airspace (Heathrow and Gatwick), so a phone briefing before first visits is recommended. VFR arrivals are typically at 1400 feet, joining crosswind over the numbers, remaining inside the ATZ and below 1500 feet at all times. IFR arrivals are possible with radar vectors from Farnborough; two agreed IFR departure routes exist via Goodwood and Compton, with clearances relayed by AFIS and handover to Farnborough Radar above 2400 feet. For Runway 24, remain inside the ATZ in the Heathrow CTR, tracking 325° from OCK, descending to 600 feet before turning final.

PPR is required; prompt confirmation follows submission of ETA and GAR form via the airfield website. Border Force requires at least two hours’ notification by GAR for international departures; Border Control may not always attend in person but can be contacted by phone on arrival.

Parking for singles is on grass; twins and SETs usually have space on concrete. Avoid taxiing on broken concrete in front of hangars—hand push only there. Fuel is available by bowser, paid in the Tower along with landing fees. Maintenance (GAMA) is available on site, described as helpful and reasonably priced.

A basic café operates on the field. Taxis can be slow; Uber is available but more expensive, while local minicabs can be arranged by staff. The journey to Woking Station takes about 10–15 minutes by taxi; frequent trains reach London Waterloo in about 25–30 minutes.
