Very friendly airfield with very helpful and experienced ATC. The airport is under construction, so read the pilot briefing carefully. Refuelling of Avgas is straightforward with self-service (£2.34 per litre). The on-site restaurant was busy on a midweek day, and there were many plane spotters present. We landed in a Cirrus SR22 and parked on the grass due to a full tarmac. The airport requires PPR. They can activate IFR flight plans on the ground. If you use automated IFR planning, be careful when accepting a pickup point to the north, as it's often not controlled by Birmingham approach, which complicates coordination.

Three intersecting runways require vigilance, as there is significant training activity and not all participants are attentive. Staff in the tower and at the fuel station are friendly. Taxiways and disused runways are extremely uneven, so taxi slowly; surface conditions may not suit all landing gear types. Example: landing fee about £30.
