EDSA Albstadt-Degerfeld has a field elevation of 2,900 ft, making it one of the highest airfields in southern Germany. Operations without an aerodrome supervisor (Fliegen ohne Betriebsleiter) are now possible there. PPR can be requested fairly easily via V-Tower; this tool can also be used to log landings. Payment via AEROPS is possible. Fuel: Super+ (2.40 €) and Avgas available. Landing fee 8.00 € for Aquila. Caution: RWY 27 has a significant downslope on the first half of the runway; avoid a high or fast approach. The on-field restaurant is open Thursday to Sunday. In the afternoon the kitchen is closed until 17:00, but coffee, cake, and drinks are available during that time.
Runway is grass, long, and notably uneven with a slope; slow taxi is necessary and the surface can be quite bumpy. Approaches to runway 27 involve nearby trees and a downhill slope, while departures to the west require strong climb performance due to rising terrain beyond the runway. Hot and high conditions may affect performance. PPR is required and easily arranged by phone. Example: landing fee about €10. Airfield staff are friendly and helpful.
An Italian restaurant on site is well regarded and recently reopened. Aircraft maintenance is available, including a workshop with historic aircraft displays. The airfield hosts airshows with warbird participation.
