The airfield community is welcoming, with friendly members and a relaxed atmosphere. Coffee is available on site. Detmold town is within walking distance, and bicycles make the trip even shorter. For glider pilots, the landing area for 27 may be contaminated with animal droppings, and a winch launch costs about €15.
