Gotha Ost Airport (EDEG)

PPR is required for operations. The runway is 810 meters long, with trees to the east and minimal obstacles to the west; surface is somewhat rough but usable. Infrastructure is basic and largely unchanged, with limited investment. Two clubs are present on the field; for PPR, contact the Flugsportverein Gotha. The Erfurt CTR lies immediately east of the circuit. Landegebühren are very low. Example: landing fee about €5. Access to town is possible on foot: from threshold 08, follow the road south to the main road, then right for 600 meters to the Ostbahnhof tram stop; tram line 2 takes about 5 minutes into the city and runs frequently. Friendly atmosphere; local pilots sometimes offer rides into town. Facilities include a heated glass container for shelter in cold weather and coffee available on occasion. Payment is handled at the Segelflug-Tower-Bus, not at the hangars. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
