Pilot Comments for EDDP
Markus
119 EUR landing/parking fee for one night (single-engine, 1.315 kg). No AVGAS available on the field. Airport easily reachable from Hauptbahnhof by S-Bahn (2 stops, approx. 15 minutes). The GAT is at the opposite end of the airport relative to the S-Bahn station—allow a 10 min walk. Before departure you must first go to the GAT to pay the fees. Passengers are handled via the GAT; crew via the crew/staff access in the terminal building directly next to the GAT. Overall, handling was quick for both crew and passengers. However, my passenger had to call me from GAT security to ask whether two small water bottles could be taken on board.

For a business appointment to Leipzig, out in the morning, back in the evening. Filled out the handling form beforehand and got the OK by phone. That made the paperwork on site a 30 s job.
Connection into the city by S-Bahn, runs every 30 minutes. On return, do not go to the GAT; go into the terminal to the crew screening checkpoint. There you first have to endure an interrogation about what you want and why you exist, but then security is quick and a Follow-Me escorts you to the aircraft. Maybe security there is annoyed by lost airline pax and has therefore lost some customer orientation.
Back with the friendly GAT staff via Follow-Me: My assumption that I could hang out at the GAT until the ATC-Slot was unfortunately wrong; it was straight to the aircraft and I had to wait on the apron in nice weather.
All in all, though, fast and straightforward.
Landing for 1527 kg 25 EUR (enhanced noise abatement), parking for one day 7 EUR, GAT fee (shuttle etc.) 40 EUR, all plus VAT.

Leipzig/Halle (EDDP) is a large international airport with extensive infrastructure and two long parallel runways, regularly accommodating non-commercial general aviation. VFR and IFR arrivals are straightforward, with no slot required for GA; however, telephone PPR is sometimes requested, especially for ultralights. ATC and ground staff are consistently described as friendly, professional, and helpful. Expect long taxi distances from the runways to the GA terminal (GAT), but efficient Follow-Me service is standard. Handling is quick and courteous, with card payment available at the GAT.
Fees have increased in recent years and are now in the medium to higher range for Germany. For aircraft up to 2 tonnes MTOW, total charges including landing, GAT fee, and parking typically range from about €60 to €110 for short stays; DFS navigation charges are additional. Example: total fees about €110. Eight hours of parking are often included; overnight parking may incur extra charges.
The S-Bahn station is a 7–20 minute walk from the GAT via a covered bridge; trains depart every 30 minutes and reach Leipzig Hauptbahnhof in 12–16 minutes. Ticket machines are on the platform; tickets must be validated before boarding. Taxis are available directly outside the terminal.
Facilities include access to restaurants, cafés, hotel, car hire desks in the main terminal adjacent to the GAT, and a briefing room. Avgas availability is uncertain; recent reports note Avgas is not available. Fuel trucks accept BP cards when fuel is available.
A notable procedural point: pilots and passengers must pass through separate security checks on departure, which can cause delays if staff are unavailable or if timing is tight—plan accordingly to avoid missing departure slots. No slot or PPR required for IFR flights under normal circumstances; see AIP/NOTAM for any changes.
Noise abatement procedures apply: visual approaches are not permitted for IFR arrivals due to noise restrictions. Landings typically use the southern runway; long taxi times should be expected.
Leipzig/Halle offers efficient handling and excellent city access but at higher fees than smaller fields. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
